Quotes from the awards jury:
"This is a skillful weaving of a considerable bulk of a new building to an
existing facility in a way that seems pretty effortless."
"The tectonic treatments of the interior are effective. The rounded-off
effect reduces the building's bulkiness and makes it feel smaller."
"The project has such a complex program. With this knitting together, it
shows strong continuity around the building. There are a lot of intervals with
nice transitions from one material to another."
