New Facility The Parish felt that the Church's presence should both physically and spiritually act as a rallying point in the community without the automobile dominating. A facility to house 1,000 members for worship, communal activity and education, as well as providing living quarters for three priests was to be developed while allowing morning sun to penetrate the sanctuary and chapel. |

A careful analysis of the site suggested placement of the facility midway up the
slope to take advantage of the view and promitory. The banner elevation was
selected to be visible within the community, to serve as a rallying point and a
shield for the skylight. The parking areas were terraced down the slope.
An informal plan evolved around two major axes of circulation -- one providing access to the main vestibule and chapel area, and the other connecting all ancillary communal spaces. |
