Working with Sue Associates of Oakland, CA, BWZ provided design development, working drawing, and construction administration services as Architect of Record for the renovation of the historic 12,000 sq. ft. Pres House church and meeting facility, and the addition of a seven story 77,000 sq. ft., fifty one unit student housing facility on the UW-Madison Campus. The construction cost of the addition was $11.5 million and the renovation’s construction cost was $1.5 million.
Working with the contractor and project team over a construction period of twelve months, BWZ was able to help Pres House achieve substantial completion and occupancy on schedule on July 15, 2007. Project included accessibility upgrades for the renovated structure with meeting room, kitchen, administrative offices, tenant café with sunken terrace at State Street, and replacement of windows with commercial grade units with historic profile. The addition is a fully accessible housing facility with three Type A accessible dwelling units, a meeting room, mail, managers office, and lobby/ lounge on ground floor, and a student lounge, trash and laundry room on each residential floor.
