CHRSIT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Madison, WI
Addition and Remodel
The project consisted of designing a small addition to an existing 1950's church to accommodate a 75-seat chapel and administrative offices. In addition the main sanctuary was renovated to include seating for 300 members.
The simple plan was an extension of the volumetric shape reflected in the existing structure.
A freestanding limestone sunscreen and window frames, and matching face brick provide contextual references to the existing building. The renovated sanctuary interior was transformed into processional, articulated and participatory spaces highlighted by quality lighting, variations of color, focus and superb acoustics.
The AIA has recognized the Christ Presbyterian Church Addition and Remodel with the Design Honor Award.
